Q: I have a book that doesn’t fit any of the
recommended categories. Where should I put it?
A: We attempt in all our contests to avoid having a
category for every possibility. Thus, if you feel your book does not
fit in one of our general categories, please enter it as a “wild
card,” which is designed for books that do not neatly fit into
other areas.
Q: Why do I mail my book to a Los Angeles address?
A: Our main headquarters is based in Los Angeles, although
our judges are located in many places.
Q: Are books from any publication date eligible?
A: Yes. We feel that the overcrowded publishing marketplace
overlooks many fine works. Thus, our goal is to spotlight works that
deserve another look without the artificial constraint of a specific
year of publication.
Q: How do you manage to read all the books that are
submitted?
A: We review entries on an ongoing basis, comparing
earlier entries with later arrivals. Our judges are constantly arguing
the merits of the works, and many last-minute submissions have won our
past events.
Q: I’ve never heard of this event. How do I know
this is not a scam?
A: We have been in business since 1999 and stand by
our track record of first-class productions. Please feel free to Google
us for past success stories.
Q: Does the festival guarantee that I’ll get
a film/TV/video game deal?
A: The festival was devised because we realized that
many authors wished to get their works reviewed by producers, and many
producers did not want to handle unsolicited material. Because of our
Hollywood location and our various events throughout town, we realized
a happy medium existed to bring these two camps together. However, there
are no guarantees that you’ll get instant success. What we will
guarantee is that we make our winners available to our network of contacts
and constantly promote our list to our entertainment industry contacts.
